The Husson Eagles football team rushed for six touchdowns on the ground Saturday, and picked up another easy ECFC win 48-21 over Gallaudet at Hotchkiss Field in Washington, DC.
John Smith ran for 186 yards on 23 carries and four touchdowns. Chuck Browne and Ron Hargrove also ran for short scores. Quarterback Cory Brandon passed for 296 yards on 18-25 passing and a touchdown. Husson (6-1, 4-0 ECFC) put up 575 yards of total offense. The Bison, who fall to 2-5 and 2-2, stayed close down just 14-7 at half, before Husson broke it open with a 21-0 third quarter. Husson plays at Anna Maria next Saturday at 1 p.m.
The University of Maine football team picked up a big road win Saturday, toppling Albany 12-10 in CAA action at Bob Ford Field in Albany, NY. The road victory is the first of the year for Maine.
Black Bears quarterback Chris Ferguson went 19-30 for 263 yards and a touchdown. Josh Mack had 181 total yards from scrimmage to help Maine pick up their second straight conference win. Mack had 32 carries for 108 yards, and also caught four passes for 73 yards. Ethan Stark missed a fourth quarter 44 yard field goal that would of given the Great Danes the lead. Albany falls to 3-4, 1-3 CAA.
Maine improves to 3-3, 2-3 in CAA. The Bears play host to William & Mary next Saturday at Alfond Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12 noon.
