Michael Norton JR earned 38 percent of the vote to earn Eastern Maine Sports athlete of the month for October 2017. The senior running back from Oceanside high school totaled 2111 yards and 30 touchdowns, averaging 12.6 yards per carry. Norton JR also came up big on the defensive end for the Mariners. He recorded 94 tackles and 12 sacks. Oceanside reached the class C semifinals, finishing with a 6-4 record. Hayley Rossman (Dexter) finished second in the voting, while Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton) finished close behind Rossman.
