Carlos Gonzalez had his second straight big game for the Thomas men’s basketball team. This time it wasn’t enough as the Terriers second half rally fell short in a 73-65 loss against Pine Manor on Saturday afternoon.
Pine Manor built a 39-24 halftime lead. Thomas went on an 11-2 run to start the second half and cut the deficit to 41-35. Thomas got it down to five (52-47) on a Willie Grant layup with 5:08 remaining. Grant made a three pointer to get it down to five (56-51) again with 3:15 left. Justin Butler made two free throws to get Thomas within 58-55 with 2;06 remaining. Pine Manor put the game away with 8-8 from the free throw line in the last two minutes.
Thomas defeated Machias in their season opener on Friday night behind a triple double from Gonzalez.
