Michael Wrigley rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another in leading the Wells Warriors to a 48-0 win over Foxcroft in the Maine Principals’ Association class D state championship game at Fitzpatrick Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Nolan Potter scored the first of his two touchdowns when he ran in from 30 yards out with 342 left in the first quarter. An interception from Tyler Bridge set up that score with an interception. Just 1:10 later, Wrigley connected with Bridge for a 21 yard touchdown. That was set up by a blocked punt.
Wrigley had all three of his rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. Potter and Chad Fitzpatrick had touchdowns in the third quarter. Potter finished with 150 yards on 17 carries, Bridge also had over 100 yards. Wells (12-0) won the class C state championship last year. Foxcroft finishes the season 8-3, two of the losses came against state championship winners (MCI and Wells).
