GUILFORD- The Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates girls basketball team went on a 14-0 run in the first half and held on for a 42-27 win over Greenville on Thursday afternoon.
PCHS outscored Greenville 14-2 in the second quarter to take a commanding 25-7 halftime lead. Greenville cut the deficit to 11-7 early in the second quarter before the Pirates went on their big run.
Erin Speed scored 11 of her game high 18 points in the first half. Speed also had four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Alivia Hunt recorded 10 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, and two assists. Bailey Lemieux added six points and four rebounds. Olivia Riitano chipped in with four points, while Meagan Lemieux and Lexi Rowell had two points each. Rowell also had six rebounds and three steals.PCHS (2-0) will play at Dexter on Saturday.
Halle Pelletier kept the Lakers within striking distance. Pelletier scored 11 of her team high 13 points in the third quarter, she also pulled down 10 rebounds. Jessica Pomerleau and Tieran Murray scored five points each, while Bianca Breton and Makenzie Ward each added two points. Greenville (0-2) will play at Forest Hills on Saturday.
