Sydney Allen and Crystal Bell share Charles Inn female athlete of the week honors

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 245 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Sydney Allen from Central high school and Crystal Bell from John Bapst have been picked as co female athlete of the week winners. Allen averaged 22.5 points this week and is averaging 21.9 this season for the 8-1 Red Devils. She is also averaging 5.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per contest. Bell went over 1000 career points. The senior  has been the leader for a Crusaders team that is 7-0. Bell joins Emily Tilton and Austin Spencer as student/athletes from John Bapst that have earned athlete of the week honors. It is the third athlete of the week honor for Allen

The Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Sydney Allen- Central- basketball- recorded 23 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists in 65-39 win over George Stevens. Recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists in 55-45 loss to Houlton. The senior is averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per game for the 8-1 Red Devils.

Crystal Bell- John Bapst- basketball-recorded 21 points and 13 rebounds, including her 1000 career point with one of her three 3-pointers in the first quarter in 58-53 win over previously undefeated MCI.

Runner up

Kolleen Bouchard- Houlton-basketball- recorded 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists in 48-17 win over Hodgdon. Scored 28 points and pulled down seven rebounds in 55-45 win over Central.

Other nominations 

Gabrielle Marquis- Caribou- basketball- averaged 12 points and six rebounds in leading the Vikings to wins over Ellsworth, Washington Academy, and previously undefeated MDI. She was also named County Federal Credit Union player of the game in the MDI game. Caribou currently sits at number one in the MPA class B heal point standings.

Maci Beals- Central Aroostook- basketball- scored 17 points, including five 2-pointers in 54-21 win over Easton.

Abigail Allen- Central- basketball- had 17 points, including 5 three pointers in 65-39 win over George Stevens.

Brooke Cowan- Hermon- basketball- came off the bench to score 11 points, including 2 three pointers in 40-26 win over Orono.

Alivia Hunt- PCHS- basketball- had 15 points and 12 rebounds in 44-33 win over Mattanawcook.
