Tereza Vanisova scored two goals, and Jessica Jacques scored the game winner in the second period to lead the University of Maine womens hockey team to a 3-2 win over Boston University Sunday afternoon at Agannis Arena in Boston.
Maine, now 14-6-3 and 8-3-2 in Hockey East, takes the two game sweep from the Terriers while also extending their unbeaten streak to eight games (6-0-2). Carly Jackson made 24 saves in net to gain the win. Nara Elia and Jesse Compher scored for the 7-12-4, 3-9-3 Terriers.
Maine, now ranked #10 in the country, returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Merrimack for a 2 p.m. faceoff. Maine is currently third in league standings, three points behind second place Providence, and nine behind first place Boston College.
The Maine mens ice hockey team, currently on an eight game unbeaten streak (7-0-1), will look to extend to nine games when they face Brown in Rhode Island in a non-conference matchup Monday night at 7 p.m. The Bears enter this week of action as a ranked team, as they were found at #20 in this weeks national poll.
