Anthony Davis scored 45 points and hauled down 16 rebounds Tuesday night, as the New Orleans Pelicans held off the Boston Celtics 116-113 in overtime at TD Garden.
New Orleans (23-20), held a double digit first half lead and also leads of 12 in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth, but the Celtics rallied back each time. The Celtics hit eight three pointers in the third quarter alone, on their way to matching a franchise record.
New Orleans was just too much offensively. Jrue Holiday scored 23 points. Demarcus Cousins had 19 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists. Ian Clark also added 15 points.
Boston (34-11), who had their win streak end at seven, were led by Kyrie Irving who had 27 points and seven rebounds. Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart had 16 points a piece. Al Horford had 14 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Also finishing in double figures was Marcus Morris with 12 points and Jayson Tatum with 10. Boston made 19-50 from three point range in the game, tying the all time Celtics record.
Boston will host Philadephia Thursday night at 7 p.m.
