The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) High School Basketball tournament starts four weeks from tonight at the Cross Insurance Center.
For some teams, the very important games start much sooner than that. The Bucksport Bucks Boys basketball team enter the day at 8-2 and 10th in the MPA class C heal point standings. The Bucks travel to Dexter tonight for a huge class C clash. The Tigers are also 8-2 and 11th in the heal point standings. Both teams are looking for valuable heal points in their quest to host a preliminary round game on February 13th or 14th. The Tigers and Bucks will also play on the final day of the regular season (February 8th) at Bucksport.
The weekend doesn’t get any easier or less important for the Bucks as they travel to George Stevens Academy for a matchup with the two time defending class C state champs. The Eagles defeated Bucksport in overtime earlier in the season. George Stevens (9-1) has won nine straight since a season opener loss to Lee Academy.
