GUILFORD– Bryce Gilbert filled up the stat sheet with 43 points, 19 rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks in leading the Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) to a 75-38 win over Valley of Bingham on Monday evening.
Valley jumped out to a 10-4 lead thanks to a pair of three pointers from Joshua Brown. Gilbert drained a three pointer to cut the deficit to 10-7. The Pirates scored the final five points of the first quarter to take a 12-11 lead.
PCHS outscored Valley 23-12 in the second quarter. Gilbert scored 11 points in the quarter. Gilbert scored 23 second half points as the Pirates outscored the Cavaliers 40-15.
PCHS out rebounded Valley 42-20. Gilbert led the way on the boards, guard Eben Cooley also pulled down nine rebounds.
Cameron Kane put in 15 points for the Pirates, while Cooley chipped in with five points and two assists. Wayne Haley added four points, while Caleb Willis put in three free throws. Damyan True and Preston Ricker contributed two points each. PCHS (10-3) will travel to Schenck on Wednesday night. With the win, the Pirates jumped from 7th to 5th in the Maine Principals’ Association class C heal point standings
Brown and Joey Thomas led the Cavaliers with 11 points each. Dillion Beane added 10 points, while Mason Wyman and Keegan Farnham scores four and two points respectively. Valley (11-3) will travel to Highview Christian on Wednesday night.
