For the second straight night the Boston Bruins spotted their opponent a 1-0 lead, and for second straight night it was a road victory. Boston scored six unanswered, including two from Patrice Bergeron Wednesday night to blow out the New York Rangers 6-1 at Madison Square Garden in New York for their fourth straight win.
Rick Nash opened the scoring five minutes into the first to give the home Rangers the lead. Riley Nash and Zdeno Chara though scored first period goals to give Boston a 2-1 lead. The Bruins opened it up in the second, scoring three goals in a 6:13 span. Bergeron and Tim Schaller made it 4-1, and Bergeron got his second of the night shorthanded to make it 5-1. Sean Kurally scored a third period goal to finish off the scoring.
Anton Khudobin got the win in net for the Bruins (33-11-8) stopping 21 of 22 shots. Henrik Lundquist stopped 12 of 16 shots before he was pulled in the second period. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 16 of 18 to finish up the game for the 25-24-5 Rangers. Boston with 74 points is only one point behind Atlantic Division leading Tampa Bay for the division and the Eastern Conference top seed. The Bruins are in a second place tie with the Las Vegas Golden Knights for the best record in the NHL.
Boston will host Buffalo Saturday at 7 p.m.
