Jimmy G gets huge contract, I.T. and Crowder traded

Some big news from both the NFL and NBA today on some former New England Athletes.

In the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers came to a league record contract negotiation with former New England backup quarterback Jimmy Garappolo.

The terms of the deal is five years worth a reportedly 137.5 million dollars. The previous record on a per year basis was Matthew Stafford who makes 27 million with the Detroit Lions. With the new deal, the average for Garappolo will be 27.5 million.

Garappolo was traded by the Patriots back in October for a 2018 second rebound draft pick. Garappolo was 5-0 as the 49ers starting quarterback.

 

On trade deadline day in the NBA, the Celveland Cavaliers sent six players packing, including two former Boston Celtics players.

Isiaiah Thomas was sent to the L.A. Lakers for a future second round draft pick, while Jae Crowder was sent to the Utah Jazz for Rodney Hood.

Derek Rose, Dwayne Wade, Iman Shumpert, and Channing Frye were also traded in a three team trade. Along with Hood, the Cavs received Larry Nance Jr., Jordan Clarkson, and George Hill.
