BANGOR– Griffin Guerrette scored 22 of his game high 36 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Presque Isle Wildcats to a 65-54 victory over Orono in a class B boys quarterfinal game played at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday night.
The teams played to a 12-12 first quarter. Guerrette and Trace Cyr scored four points each in the quarter. Guerrette made a shot at the end of the first half to give the Wildcats a 27-24 halftime lead.
The score was tied at 39 at the end of the third quarter. The final quarter belonged to Guerrette. He made six field goals and went 10-13 from the free throw line in the final eight minutes.
Chance Walston and Zach Dill finished with 10 points each to lead the Red Riots. Orono finished the season with a 7-13 record.
Guerrette also recorded nine rebounds and four assists. Cyr recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds. Jonah Hudson also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Presque Isle (14-5) will play a semifinal game on Wednesday, February 21st.
