BANGOR, Me- The MDI Trojans used a 15-0 run to build a comfortable first half lead, then cruised to a convincing 79-38 win over the Washington Academy Raiders in Class B boys quarterfinal action at the Cross Insurance Center Saturday morning.
Andrew Phelps led all scorers with 19 points and five rebounds. James McConomy had 14 points, all in first half. Derek Collin added 12 points for 16-3 MDI, who moves on to face Presque Isle Wednesday in the semifinals. The Trojans led by as many as 48 in the fourth quarter, as they only commiitted nine turnovers and shot 17-22 from the foul line.
Washington Academy, who finishes 14-6, was led by Milon Filapoulch who had nine points. Brandon Allard added eight points. The Raiders turned it over 20 times and went 6-9 from the line.
