BANGOR–Freshman Emily Curtis recorded 16 points, 15 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks to lead Woodland to a 39-35 win over Schenck in a girls basketball class D quarterfinal game played Saturday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Dragons had a 24-7 halftime lead and held off a valiant Schenck comeback. Samantha Falone made a basket that cut it to 32-30 with 3:42 remaining in the fourth quarter. Sadie Smith made a layup and Shaye Beers converted two big free throws to help the Dragons hold off the Wolverines comeback.
Falone led Schenck with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Wolverines finish the season with a 10-10 record.
Smith had 11 points for the Dragons. Woodland (16-3) will take on Deer Isle-Stonington in a semifinal game on Thursday afternoon.
