BANGOR- Isaac Cyr recorded 27 points, nine rebounds, and three steals to lead Fort Fairfield to a 64-60 win over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) in a Maine Principals Association class C quarterfinal game played Wednesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
The game featured 20 leads changes, including nine in the first quarter. Jared Harvey scored eight points in the first eight minutes as the Tigers held a 16-15 lead.
PCHS went on a 10-0 run in the second quarter and held a 35-26 halftime lead. Bryce Gilbert had 14 points in the first half, including 12 in the second quarter
The Tigers put the game away by shooting 9-12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. They shot 16-18 for the game from the line.
Gilbert scored a game high 28 points for the Pirates. Gilbert also registered 14 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Gilbert grabbed his 500th career rebound in the second quarter.
Cameron Kane added 18 points, including 5 three pointers. Eben Cooley and Damyan True added seven points each. Caleb Willis came off the bench to grab nine rebounds. True fouled out with 5:11 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Pirates trailing 49-48. PCHS finishes the season with a 12-8 record.
Cyr had 20 second half points. Harvey recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers, while Liam McNamee added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Fort Fairfield (17-2) will take on Mattanawcook in a semifinal game on Friday night.
