BANGOR– Isaac Cyr scored a game high 24 points to lead the Fort Fairfield Tigers to a 53-45 win over Mattanawcook in a Maine Principals’ Association class C semifinal game played Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Cyr gave the Tigers a lead (16-14) early in the second quarter. They would hold the lead the rest of the way. Cyr went over the 1000 point mark in his career when he hit a three pointer in the first quarter.
The Tigers built the lead as high as 13 early in the fourth quarter. Mattanawcook went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 46-39. Jared Harvey and Cyr combined for 10 fourth quarter points to help Fort Fairfield (18-2) advance to their second straight regional championship game.
Cyr added seven rebounds and three assists for the Tigers. Cyr also made two 3-pointers. Harvey put in 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Liam McNamee recorded eight points and six rebounds. Fort Fairfield will play George Stevens or Fort Kent in the regional final at 8:45 PM on Saturday night.
Cayden Spencer-Thompson put in a game high 19 points for the Lynx. Alex Brown added 12 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Mattanawcook finishes the season with a record of 14-7.
