BANGOR, Me- Taylor Schildroth poured in 30 points, 19 in second half, to help lead the George Stevens Academy Eagles past the Fort Kent Warriors 76-53 in a Class C boys semifinal game Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Fort Kent led early 5-2 and 12-11 after the opening quarter before GSA came to life in the second. Trailing early in the second 14-12, Schildroth gave the Eagles a 15-14 advantage with a three pointer. Schildroth nailed two more from long range during a 18-4 run that gave GSA their biggest lead to that point at 32-18. GSA led 34-23 at the half.
Schildroth helped GSA maintain their lead in the third quarter, including two more three pointers and 12 points in the period. The Eagles went up as many as 16, and led 51-39 headed to the final eight minutes.
Schildroth had seven more in the fourth, and Stefan Simmons added five as GSA pushed the lead to 25 with a 16-3 run. The Eagles outscored the Warriors 25-14 in the final quarter and 25 ended up being the biggest lead of the night.
Schildroth had five three pointers to help him get the game high in points. Also contributing for GSA Simmons had 13 points and five rebounds, while Max Mattson had 12 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. GSA is now 19-1 and will face Fort Fairfield Saturday night at 8:50 p.m. in a rematch of the regional final from a year ago won by GSA.
Fort Kent finishes up with a record of 16-5. The Warriors were led by Cam Jandreau who had 14 points. Jacob Daigle added 12 points and six rebounds, while Caleb Delisle also chipped in 10 points.
