Cam Atkinson scored at 2:55 of overtime Monday night, to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a come from behind 5-4 win over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.
The game was the debut of Harvard product Ryan Donato. Donato didn’t disappoint tying the game in the second period with his first career goal, and also assisting on two others on the night. After Boone Jenner gave Columbus a 1-0 lead after one period, the Bruins scored three in a row in the second. Brad Marchand and Riley Nash had put Boston up 3-1, but Sonny Milano cut it to 3-2 just 25 seconds after the Nash goal.
Thomas Vanek and Artemi Panarin gave the Jackets a 4-3 lead with goals at 5:38 and 11:30 of the third, before David Krejci tied it 4-4 just 20 seconds after Panarins goal.
Boston was 1-4 on the powerplay, and Tuuka Rask made 20 saves in the loss for the 45-17-9 Bruins. Columbus (40-28-5) was 0-2 with the extra man, and Joonas Korpisalo made 34 saves in the road win. Boston will be at St Louis to face the Blues Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
