The University of Maine baseball team scored three first inning runs but fell 5-3 at Hartford in their America East opener on Friday.

Zach Winn pitched a strong five innings for the Black Bears. Winn allowed one run, three hits, and three walks, while striking out four.
Jeremy Pena led off the game with a triple to the Black Bears. Jonathan followed with a single that scored Pena. Hernen Sardinas smacked a two run double in the first inning Maine rally. The Black Bears and Hawks will conclude their series with a doubleheader starting at noon this afternoon.
