The Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins continued their road trips Sunday evening, finishing off a perfect 2-0 weekend for both teams.
At Sacramento, California Terry Rozier scored a career high 33 points as the Boston Celtics won their 50th game, with a 104-93 win over the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center.
Boston (50-23) trailed by eight at the half, but outscored the Kings by 19 in the second half to pick up the win. Rozier added five rebounds and three assists. Jaylen Brown returned from injury and pumped in 19 points. Al Horford added 14 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. Jayson Tatum added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Buddy Hield led the 24-50 Kings with 21 points and six rebounds. Willie Cauley-Stein added 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Skal Labissierre also had 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Boston will be at Phoenix Monday night at 10 p.m.
The Boston Bruins got Patrice Bergeron back in the lineup, and skated to a 2-1 overtime win at the XCel Energy Center over the Minnesota Wild.
Bergeron had two assists on the night. David Pastrnak opened the scoring with his 30th goal in the second period. Minnesota (42-24-9) tied the game in the third on a Mikko Koivu goal. Brad Marchand once again provided the heroics, scoring his 33rd goal just 28 seconds into the overtime. Marchand also added his 47th assist on the Pastrnak marker. For Marchand, it was also his fifth overtime game winner this season.
Tuuka Rask got the win in net for Boston, making 24 saves. The Bruins were 0-2 on the powerplay, and improved to 47-17-10 with the win. Alex Stalock made 26 saves in the loss for the Wild, while Minnesota was also 0-2 with the man advantage. Boston now has 104 points, and is just two points behind the Atlantic Division leading Tampa Bay Lightning (106 pts) with one game in hand. Boston continues their road trip with a stop in Winnipeg to battle the Jets Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
