Barron announces 2018-19 coaching staff

Newly appointed University of Maine men’s basketball coach Richard Barron announced the rest of his coaching staff Friday for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.

Kevin Reed, a former student-athlete at Maine, returns to his alma matter under Barron. Reed, who had 1,601 career points for the Bears, had been serving as head boys basketball coach and Athletic Director at Bangor Christian.

Edneisha Curry returns to Maine, after serving under Barron for the women’s program as an assistant player development coach from July 2015 to May 2017.

Igor Vrzina comes to the Bears after a very successful four years as head coach of the Lee Academy prep team. Vrzina amassed a 98-51 record in his time with Lee.

Jason Coleman takes on his new job as the director of basketball operations at Maine. Coleman has vast coaching experience in both basketball and football at the collegiate, high school, AAU and middle school levels since 2005. Mostly recently, Coleman was head coach of the Orono boys basketball team since 2011.
