David Price (1-0) pitched seven strong innings to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Friday night.
Price allowed four hits and didn’t issue a walk while striking out five. Price threw 76 pitches (55 strikes).
Rafael Devers delivered home the only run in the seventh inning. Xander Bogaerts hit two doubles and has hit four in the first two games.
Matt Barnes pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the ninth inning to earn the save. It is the first win for Alex Cora as a major league manager.
