Bruins cruise by Panthers, Celtics beat Raptors

The Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics continued their solid play on Saturday, as the Bruins regained first place and the Celtics gained a game on the Raptors with a head to head win.

Saturday afternoon at TD Garden, the Boston Bruins used a three goal second period to bury the Florida Panthers 5-1.

Jake Debrusk returned after an injury that caused an eight game absence and had two goals and an assist, while Ted Donato added a goal and an assist as Boston regained the lead over Tampa Bay in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. David Krejci added three assists. Tuuka Rask made 30 saves for the 49-17-11 Bruins. Boston will be at Philadelphia Sunday at 12:30.

 

Saturday night at the same venue, TD Garden, the Boston Celtics cut the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference deficit to just two games with a head to head 110-99 win over the leaders from Toronto.

Marcus Morris came off bench to put in 25 points for the 53-23 Celtics, adding nine rebounds, and three assists. Jayson Tatum added 24 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Terry Rozier had 21 points and seven assists. Al Horford chipped in 14 points and five rebounds, and Aron Baynes had 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Toronto 55-21, was led by Demar Derozian who had a game high 32 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Serge Ibaka added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Boston visits Milwaukee to battle the Bucks Tuesday night at 8 p.m. The Celtics and Raptors matchup again head to head in Toronto Wednesday night.
