Bruins rally, but fall in overtime Sunday to Flyers

The Boston Bruins rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period Sunday afternoon to tie it and force overtime, but Claude Giroux scored his second goal of the game 3:39 into the extra session to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 win at the Wells Fargo Center.

Giroux scored his first goal in the opening period, and Travis Konecny scored early in the second to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead. Noel Acciari scored with about 5:30 left in middle period for the Bruins, to cut it to 2-1 after two.

Nolan Patrick scored 5:31 into the third to give the Flyers a 3-1 advantage. The Bruins David Pastrnak scored 1:23 later unassisted on the powerplay to make it 3-2. Patrice Bergeron scored his 30th goal of the year to tie it 3-3 with just four seconds left on the clock.

Anton Khudobin made 20 saves in the loss for the 49-17-12 Bruins. Petr Mrazek made 36 saves for the win in the Flyers net. Philadelphia is now 40-25-14. Boston with one point moves two points ahead of Tampa Bay for first place in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. The Bruins and Lightning face off at Tampa Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
