Hanley Ramirez delivers big hit in 13th to send Red Sox home with five straight wins

The Boston Red Sox started spring training on February 13th. They will finally be leaving Florida after a 13 inning 4-2 win over Miami at Marlins Park on Tuesday night.

Hanley Ramirez smashed a two run double that scored Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi in the top of the 13th inning.

Chris Sale allowed one run in five innings on five hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out six.

The game was tied at 1 until the 11th inning. Benintendi hit a single that scored Eduardo Nunez and gave the Red Sox a 2-1 lead. The Marlins scored one off Matt Barnes in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Benintendi, Ramirez, and Rafael Devers had two hits each. Heath Hembree (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings.

The Red Sox finished their season opening road trip with a 5-1 record, including winning five in a row. David Price will be on the mound for the Red Sox home opener on Thursday afternoon.
