The Stony Brook baseball team banged out seven hits and four runs off Maine starter Nick Silva Sunday in first two innings, on their way to a 5-2 win at Mahaney Diamond in Orono in the finale of a three game America East series.
Michael Wilson led the way with two hits and a pair of RBI, while John Tuccillo, Bobby Honeyman, and Chris Hamilton also drove in runs for the Seawolves. Stony Brook is now 17-12, 6-3 America East. Greg Marino (2-1) went 6.0 innings, allowing just two runs, three hits, with six strikeouts. Aaron Pinto picked up the two inning save, his eighth.
Silva is now 2-3, charged with three earned in two innings. Colin Ridley and Hernen Sardinas picked up the Maine RBI. Black Bears are now 9-21, 5-4. Maine will be in New Jersey for non conference action next weekend, beginning with Monmouth at 3 p.m. Friday.
At Albany, New York Maine and Albany softball played a single game again Sunday because of weather, and the Bears were able to garner the split of the shortened two game series, 4-3.
Kristen Niland had a walk to drive in a run, and an RBI double to lead the way for Maine. Maddie Decker and Meaghan Royle also had RBI hits. Kyleigh O’Donnell (3-6) earned the win in the circle after the loss in relief Saturday. O’Donnell went 6.0 innings, allowing three runs, six hits, with two walks, and two strikeouts. Annie Kennedy earned her third save, allowing a walk and a hit in a single inning of work. Maine is now 13-15, 4-1 America East.
Kelly Spear had a two run double to lead Albany. Taylor Light (1-1) pitched 6.0 innings in the loss. Albany is now 15-9, 3-2.
Maine will be home at Kessock Field for first time this year on Wednesday, when they welcome in UMass-Lowell for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
