April 11, 2018

Gary Sanchez hit two home runs to power the New York Yankees to a 10-7 win over the Boston Red Sox in a wild game at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

The benches cleared twice, including a wild brawl when Joe Kelly hit Tyler Austin with a 98 MPH fast ball in the 7th inning. Kelly and Austin both were ejected.

David Price (1-1) pitched only one inning. He allowed four runs on three hits and two walks. He left the game with a hand injury.

JD Martinez had two hits, including a grand slam. It is the third grand slam for the Red Sox this season. They didn’t have a grand slam during the 2017 season. Jackie Bradley JR had three hits.

The loss snapped the Red Sox nine game winning streak. Rick Porcello and Sonny Gray will be the pitching matchup in the final game of the series on Thursday night.
