Porcello shuts down Yankees to cap series win for Red Sox

Rick Porcello (3-0) pitched seven outstanding innings in leading the Boston Red Sox to a 6-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Thursday night at Fenway Park.

Porcello didn’t allow a hit until Aaron Judge smacked a double to lead off the seventh inning. Porcello only allowed two hits in seven shutout innings. He struck out six and didn’t issue a walk. Craig Kimbrel came in to record the final three outs to earn his 295th career save. Kimbrel threw 14 pitches (12 strikes), striking out two.

Andrew Benintendi, Mitch Moreland, and Eduardo Nunez had two hits each. Mookie Betts had two RBI. Hanley Ramirez had to leave the game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. The Red Sox (10-2) open a four game series against the Orioles at Fenway Park on Friday night.
