Bats stay hot as Red Sox move record to 12-2 for first time in franchise history

The weather outside is frigid, but the Red Sox bats are red hot. They pounded out a season high 15 hits in a 10-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park on Saturday afternoon.

Hanley Ramirez smacked a two run home run to cap off a three run first inning. It was the first at bat for Ramirez since getting hit by a pitch in the first inning on Thursday night.

JD Martinez had three hits and two RBI, including a homer. Ramirez and Andrew Benintendi each had two hits, two runs scored, and three RBI. Blake Swihart, Brock Holt, and Tzu-Wei Lin each had two hits.

Hector Velazquez (2-0) allowed two runs on six hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out five. Joe Kelly pitched a scoreless sixth inning. Marcus Walden allowed one run in the final three innings to pick up the save.

Mookie Betts had to leave the game a few innings of a first inning collision at home plate. Betts is listed as day to day with a bruised ankle. X Rays were negative. Red Sox manager said, Betts will probably not play on Sunday. The Red Sox have scored 62 runs in the last seven games. The teams are scheduled to play game three of a four game series on Sunday afternoon at 1 with Chris Sale on the mound.
