Lanie Perry earns second Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 252 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Lanie Perry allowed only one hit and struck out 34 in 15 innings leading Narraguagus to three wins. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Perry. She also was named AOW on May 7th, 2016 when she was a freshman.

The Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Lanie Perry – Narraguagus- softball – pitched a no hitter with 11 strikeouts in 13-1 win over Calais. Pitched a one hitter with 15 strikeouts and scored the only run in 1-0 win over Greenville. Didn’t allow a hit and had eight strikeouts in 3 innings and also had two doubles and three RBI in 14-0 win over Machias.

Runner up

Halle Pelletier – Greenville- softball- pitched a one hitter with 11 strikeouts in 1-0 loss to Narraguagus.

Other nominations

Paige Trask- Winslow – softball- pitched a three hitter in 5-3 win over Messalonskee.

Sarah Guimond- Winslow- softball- had two hits, including a triple and two runs scored in 5-3 win over Messalonskee.

Regan McNally- Dexter – softball- pitched 6.1 to earn the pitching win and had two RBI in 4-3 victory over Penquis.

Avery Herrick- Dexter- softball- cams in with the bases loaded and one out and retired the final two batters in 4-3 win over Penquis.
