Soler hits homer in 13th to help Royals knock off Sox

The Kansas City Royals scored three runs in the top of the 13th inning and held off the Boston Red Sox for a 7-6 win on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.

The Royals evened the score at 3 when Alex Gordon drilled a home run off the Red Sox closer Craig.Kimbrel in the top of the ninth. The Royals took the lead in the 12th, Eduardo Nunez evened the score at 4 when he hit a home run in the bottom of the 12th.

Jorge Soler hit a three run homer off Brian Johnson (1-1) in the top of the 13th inning. The Red Sox battled back in the bottom of the 13th but fell one run short.

Chris Sale pitched very well for the Red Sox. Sale allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks, while striking out six in seven innings.. Mitch Moreland had three hits and two runs scored, including a home run. Rafael Devers had two doubles and two runs scored, while Jackie Bradley JR had two RBI. The Red Sox committed four defensive errors, they only had six on the season coming into the game. The final game of the series will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:05 with Drew Pomeranz on the mound for the Red Sox.
