Brayden Point and J.T. Miller scored second period goals, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 27 saves Sunday afternoon to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins in game five of an NHL Eastern Conference second round series at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The Lightning win the best of seven series 4-1.
David Krejci got the Bruins on the board first with a powerplay goal 19:12 into the first period to make it 1-0. The goals for Point and Miller came 3:17 apart in the second, with Millers coming on the powerplay. Anton Stralman added an empty net goal from near his own goal line with just 1:29 left, after Boston had pulled goalie Tuuka Rask for an extra attacker with 1:33 remaining.
Rask finished with 19 saves in the loss, and both teams were 1-3 on the powerplay. Tampa won four straight games after a 6-2 game one loss to Boston. The Bruins end their season with a final record of 55-27-12, while Tampa Bay advances to Eastern Conference Finals to play either Washington or Pittsburgh.
