DOVER-FOXCROFT– Mackenzie Beaudry was solid in the circle while her catcher Jenna Clukey had three hits to lead the Foxcroft Ponies to a 4-3 win over Nokomis in a class B softball game on Tuesday afternoon.
The Ponies scored all their runs in the second inning. Foxcroft had five consecutive hitters reach base. McKenna Higgins, Cailin Seavey, and Clukey each drove home a run during the rally. After the four runs came home, Beaudry struck out the side in the top of the third inning.
The Warriors got on the board in the fourth inning. Brittany Bubar started the inning with a double. Pinch runner Autumn Chipman scored on a single from Austin Leighton.
The scored remained a three run difference until the seventh inning. That is when the Warriors rallied for two runs. Nokomis had the tying run on base with Bubar up. She came into that at bat with three hits in three plate appearances. Beaudry retired Bubar on a pop up to end the game.
Beaudry allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk, while striking out 10 in a complete game effort. Clukey had three hits and one RBI. Seavey and Amber Richard had two hits each. Foxcroft (6-0) will travel to Nokomis for another clash against the Warriors on Wednesday afternoon.
Bubar allowed four runs on 11 hits and one walk, while striking four in a complete game effort for the Warriors. Nokomis (4-4) has lost four of their last five games.
