Light hitting catcher becomes big hitter in Jays extra inning win over Sox

Luke Maile came into Friday night with five career home runs. Maile hit a game tying homer off Chris Sale in the seventh inning and a game winning two run homer off Brian Johnson (1-2) in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-3 win over the Red Sox at Rogers Centre.

Sale pitches nine innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Sale didn’t issue a walk and struck out a career high 15.

The teams will play game two of their series on Saturday afternoon with David Price scheduled to start on the mound for the Red Sox.
