J.D Martinez smacked two home runs to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 5-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.
Eduardo Rodriguez threw 5.2 shutout innings. He didn’t issue a walk, struck out seven, while scattering nine hits. Andrew Benintendi continued his hot hitting by recording three hits, including a homer, and two RBI. Brock Holt had two hits. Everyone in the lineup with the exception of Rafael Devers had at least one hit. The Red Sox broke the game open with four runs in the fifth inning.
Martinez and Mookie Betts lead the league in homers with 15 each. The Red Sox will open a three game series at St. Petersburg against the Rays on Tuesday night with Chris Sale on the mound.
