Mookie Betts belted his league leading 16th homer of the season to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at St. Petersburg on Tuesday night.
Chris Sale (5-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks, while striking out nine in 7.2 innings. Joe Kelly and Craig Kimbrel pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Kimbrel loaded the bases but got out of the jam to earn his 14th save.
Rafael Devers hit his ninth homer. Betts and Jackie Bradley JR had two hits each. Game two of the series will be Wednesday night with a David Price VS Chris Archer pitching matchup.
