Isaac Moore and Tanner Stegner power Bucksport to big win over Dexter

The Bucksport Bucks scored seven runs in their final two at bats to earn a big 8-3 victory at Dexter in a class C baseball game on Friday afternoon.

Isaac Moore pitched six strong innings for the Bucks. Moore allowed one unearned run on six hits and one walk, while striking out seven. The sophomore was able to work out of jams all afternoon. The Tigers had a runner on third with less than two outs on four different occasions and Moore was able to work out of each of those situations, including two times where Dexter had two in scoring position.

Tanner Stegner reached base four times. He had two bunt singles and a two run homer over the right field fence. Logan Stanley had three hits, including a double and one RBI. Tyler Mosher recorded two hits and two RBI. Christian Chase-Hurd had two hits and two stolen bases from the leadoff spot. With the win, Bucksport (8-6) moves from seventh to first in the Maine Principals’ Association class C heal point standings. The Bucks have two games remaining, including a big heal point worthy game at George Stevens on Memorial Day.

Matt Hanscome went 4-4 with two RBI to power the Tigers offense. Nathan Richards reached base three times, with one hit, two walks, and two runs scored. The Bucks scored four runs off Dexter starting pitcher Jacob Bickford in five innings and four more off Trevor Richards in two innings. Dexter (11-4) will finish their regular season at Guilford against PCHS on Wednesday, May 30th.
