The Boston Red Sox smacked four home runs in a 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves at Fenway Park on Friday night.
J.D. Martinez. Xander Bogaerts, and Mitch Moreland each hit a solo homer while Mookie Betts drilled a two run home run.
Eduardo Rodriguez allowed two runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out seven in 5.2 innings. Rodriguez improved to 5-1 on the season. The team is 9-1 when he starts.
Earlier in the day the Red Sox designated Hanley Ramirez for assignment. That move indicates that Moreland will get more playing time. Moreland had two of the Red Sox seven hits.
Betts leads league with 17 homers, while Martinez has 16. The Red Sox bullpen continues to pitch well. They threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Allowing only one hit and one walk with five strikeouts.
Game two of the series will be Saturday afternoon with Drew Pomeranz scheduled to start for the Red Sox against Braves lefty Sean Newcomb.
