Sandy Leon had two doubles, a home run, and three RBI to power the Boston Red Sox to an 8-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park on Tuesday evening.
The Red Sox jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Blue Jays got within 5-3 in the top of the seventh inning. Xander Bogaerts hit a home run to put an insurance run on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Rick Porcello pitched well after a few tough outings. Porcello allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks, while striking out five in 6,2 innings. Joe Kelly had a big strikeout in the seventh inning. Craig Kimbrel recorded the final two outs with the bases loaded to get his 17th save.
J.D. Martinez and Bogaerts had two hits each. Bogaerts, Leon, and Brock Holt scored two runs each. Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the mound in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon.
