Christian Vazquez hit a tying solo homer, and then Andrew Benintendi slapped a go ahead two run homer into the second deck in right field in a three run seventh inning, to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 5-4 come from behind win over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park in Houston Saturday night.
The Astros took the early lead when Alex Bregman hit a two run homer for the hosts in the third inning to make it 3-1 Houston. Boston battled back to within a run when J.D. Martinez singled in a run in the sixth, before the Sox would use the three run seventh inning rally to provide the difference. Benintendi and Martinez had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI each to lead the way, while Benintendi also scored a pair of runs to help end a two game losing streak for Boston (40-19).
David Price (6-4) earned the win on the mound, allowing three earned runs, five hits, one walk, with seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Heath Hembree, Joe Kelly, and Craig Kimbrel combined to allow one earned run, one hit, with three strikeouts in the final three innings. Kimbrel worked a perfect ninth to pick up his 19th save.
Rick Porcello gets the ball in the finale of the four game series on Sunday night at 7:30 pm, as Boston goes for the split. Charlie Morton will start for Houston.
