Sox offense comes up big to support Porcello in win over Astros

The Boston Red Sox pounded out 15 hits in a 9-3 win over the Astros at Minute Maid Park on Sunday night.

Mitch Moreland got the scoring started with a two run homer in the first inning. Moreland and Eduardo Nunez had three hits each. Andrew Benintendi hit a homer for the second straight game. Brock Holt had two hits and three RBI. Benintendi and Xander Bogaerts had two hits each.

Rick Porcello (8-2) turned in another solid pitching performance. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks, while striking out five in 6.1 innings. Matt Barnes came up big getting out of a jam in the seventh inning. He struck out two in 1.2 innings. The Red Sox start a three game series against the Tigers at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.
