Christian Vazquez and Xander Bogaerts both had three hits and a pair of RBI, and Eduardo Rodriquez pitched a solid 5.2 innings Wednesday night, as the Boston Red Sox cruised to a 7-1 win over the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park.
Vazquez hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh, as Boston improved to a MLB-best 43-19. Andrew Benintendi also added two hits and a pair of RBI, including his tenth homer of the year, a solo bomb in the fifth. Rafael Devers also added two hits.
Rodriguez (7-1), allowed just one earned run, five hits, with just one walk, and five strikeouts. The bullpen arms of Heath Hembree, Matt Barnes, Brandon Workman, and Bobby Poyner pitched the final 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits.
Rookie southpaw Jalen Beeks will take the ball for the Red Sox in his major league debut on Thursday night at 7:10. He will be opposed by lefty Matthew Boyd for the Tigers.
