Eduardo Rodriguez had another solid outing, and both Rafael Devers and Andrew Benintendi homered and drove in a pair of runs each as the Boston Red Sox topped the Baltimore Orioles 6-4 at Camden Yards Tuesday night.
Devers hit a two run shot, his 10th of the year, off Baltimore starter David Hess in the second inning that at the time gave the Sox a slim 2-1 advantage. Benintendi added a solo homer in the third, his 12th of the year. Christian Vazquez added two hits and an RBI for Boston (45-22).
Rodriguez (8-1), went 5.2 innings allowing two earned runs, eight hits, two walks, with four strikeouts. The Boston bullpen was once again pretty solid, as Hector Valazquez, Joe Kelly, and Matt Barnes combined to allow no runs on two hits in 2.1 innings. Craig Kimbrel ran into some trouble in the ninth as he allowed two walks, and Mark Trumbo hit a two out two run double. Kimbrel ended any more damage when he struck out Pedro Alvarez to end it.
Boston goes for the three game sweep Wednesday afternoon at 3:05 pm as Chris Sale takes the mound.
