The Boston Red Sox played flawless defense, including outstanding plays from all three outfielders in a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night at Fenway Park.
Jackie Bradley JR hit a two run homer in the sixth inning and made an outstanding catch in the first inning. Andrew Benintendi made a game saving catch with two on base in the eighth inning.
Rafael Devers hit a solo homer in the fifth inning. Christian Vazquez recorded two hits. Brian Johnson, Hector Velesquez (6-0), and Brandon Workman combined to only allow one run in the first seven innings. Joe Kelly struggled in the eighth but only allowed one run thanks to the catch from Benintendi. Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the ninth to record his 24th save.
The Red Sox swept the three game series and won all six games against the Angels this season. It is the first time the Red Sox have ever swept a season series of more than four games against any team. Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the mound as the Red Sox will open up a three game series at Yankee stadium on Friday night.
