Xander Bogaerts hit a walk off homer in the 10th inning of a win for the Red Sox on Saturday afternoon. Bogaerts hit a homer in the first inning to give the Sox a quick lead on Sunday. Bogaerts is the first Red Sox player since Jim Rice (July 4,5) in 1984 to hit a walk off homer and hit a home run in their first at bat the next day. The Red Sox are 45-5 when they score first this season.
Brock Holt had two hits and two RBI to spark the Red Sox attack. Jackie Bradley JR had the go ahead RBI when he drilled a double that scored Sandy Leon in the fifth inning.
Brian Johnson allowed two runs on two hits and four walks in 4.2 innings. Johnson struck out five. Brandon Workman got out of a jam and retired the final batter in the fifth inning to improve to 2-0 on the season. Tyler Thornburg, Ryan Brasier, Heath Hembree, and Craig Kimbrel each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Kimbrel earned his 30th save.

They also started the season going 17-3. The Red Sox will try to keep the momentum going will travel to Detroit for a three game series starting Friday night with David Price on the mound.
