BREWER, Me- The Biddeford Tigers scored 19 fourth quarter points Friday night, en route to a 26-12 football victory over the Brewer Witches in a Class B crossover season opener at Doyle Field.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first quarter, before Brewer capped off a five play 72 yard drive early in the second quarter that took just 1:35 to complete when Andrew Kiley ran in from 10 yards out. The extra point was blocked, and the Witches had a 6-0 lead. Biddeford came right back though as they went 63 yards on four plays in 1:45, culminating with a Carter Edgerton 51 yard TD pass to David Murphy. The extra point was good and the Tigers took that same 7-6 lead into halftime.

Both teams were scoreless in the third quarter, before they combined for 25 points in the final 12 minutes. Brewer (0-1) took back the lead when Kiley went 35 yards for his second score of the night early in the fourth. The two point conversation failed and the Witches led 12-7. Just over three minutes later, Biddeford took the lead for good when Edgerton found Murphy again this time for 41 yards. The two point pass attempt was no good as the Tigers led 13-12 with 7:38 to play.

After a failed Brewer possession, Biddeford (1-0) ended up with a third down and long at the Witches 30. Edgerton took care of that scampering up the middle on a quarterback sneak for a 30 yard score. The attempted extra point was wide though, and kept Brewer within striking distance with 3:41 left at 19-12. Witches quarterback Brandon Glidden forced a throw near midfield though with just over a minute left, that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown by Tigers cornerback Ashton Crowell to put the game out of reach with just 1:11 showing on the clock.

Witches starter Glidden finished 8-19 passing, 110 yards, and two interceptions. Kiley rushed 23 times for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Tightend Jacob McCluskey led the receiving core with four catches and 90 yards. Edgerton had a huge game for the Tigers. He finished 6-9 passing, 151 yards, two touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 123 yards and a score, despite one lost fumble. Aidan Donovan rushed 21 times for 76 yards with also a lost fumble. Murphy had two of the biggest plays of the game catching a touchdown on both receptions (two catches, 107 yards). Biddeford outgained Brewer 378-258 in total yardage and each team had two turnovers.

Both teams return to action next Friday night, as Brewer travels to Falmouth and Biddeford hosts Cony.
