Anderson’s first goal sends Dexter field hockey to win in season opener

Getting your first goal is always memorable. Doing it in your first varsity game in overtime makes it even more special.

Freshman Alivia Anderson took a pass from Cheyenne Beem and put the ball in the back of the goal early in overtime to give Dexter a 2-1 victory over Stearns at Millinocket on Friday afternoon.

Beem scored a goal in regulation assisted by Tory Asbury. Katie Farber scores the goal for Stearns. Dexter (1-0) will play at Guilford against PCHS on Tuesday. The Pirates won their season opener at Mattanawcook on Friday to start the season 1-0 after going winless last season. Stearns (0-1) will play at Mattanawcook on Tuesday.
