Along with some moves by the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins were also busy with some moves on Tuesday. Boston announced they have traded defenseman Adam McQuaid to the New York Rangers for defenseman Steven Kampfer and two draft picks.

McQuaid played nine seasons with the Bruins, but never a full season due to injury. He only appeared in 38 games in 2017-18. McQuaid has played a total of 462 games, with 13 goals and 53 assists and also amassing 652 penalty minutes.

Kampfer will be in his second duty with Boston, having played 38 games with the B’s in 2010-11, and 10 more in 2011-12. In that time he scored five goals and had seven assists, before going on to play for Minnesota, Florida and the NY Rangers. Overall Kampfer has played a total of 166 NHL games, with 10 goals and 16 assists. In past three seasons he has only played a total of 33 games and has just one goal and one assist.

Boston also receives a fourth round pick in the 2019 NHL entry draft, and a conditional seventh round draft pick. The Bruins begin their regular season on October 3 when they travel to Washington to face off with the defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals at 7:30 p.m.
