Former Cleveland Browns top pick, wide receiver Corey Coleman, signed with the New England Patriots on a one year free agent deal Tuesday according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Per ESPN reporter Field Yates, New England also signed former Denver Broncos receiver Bennie Fowler to also a one year free agent contract.
Coleman was traded from the Browns to the Buffalo Bills in August, but failed to make the 53 man roster. Coleman has appeared in a total of 19 NFL games and has 78 receptions for 718 yards and five touchdowns and is in his third NFL season out of Baylor. Fowler played three seasons with Denver before being traded to the Chicago Bears this past offseason, where he also wasn’t able to make the final roster. The fourth year pro out of Michigan State has a total of 56 receptions for 798 yards and five touchdowns in 45 career games.
Coleman and Fowler are expected to help out a Patriots offense who is without receiver Julian Edelman until week 5 with a suspension and also lost running back Jeremy Hill for the season with an ACL injury.
